Semantics deals with the meaning that signals, e.g. words, take on in our minds. Meaning does not arise from the signal alone; context and the expectations of the recipient also play a role. Therefore, there is no 1:1 correspondence between words and meanings (concepts). The structure of concepts has its own unique architecture, which differs significantly from the linguistic structure of language.
